Camp Verde council awards Sports Complex concession/restroom installation and approves related change orders

CIP Manager Martin Smith outlined recent progress and remaining work at the complex and asked whether the McCracken Lane entrance should be made an official access point. Council asked staff to consult the Arizona Department of Transportation and to host a neighborhood meeting with ADOT representation to review safety and signage.
On the construction items, Council voted to award the installation contract for the concession and restroom building to AW Contracting in an amount not to exceed $125,000. Councilor Robin Godwin moved the motion and Councilor Brian Bolton seconded; the roll-call vote was 6-0 in favor with Councilor Robert Foreman absent.
Council also approved Change Order 1 related to the concession/restroom building for storage fees, authorizing Restroom Facilities, Ltd. to be paid up to $50,000 for storage. Councilor Jessie Murdock moved, Vice Mayor Wendy Escoffier seconded, and the motion carried 6-0.
Council discussion focused on logistics and safety at site approaches; staff said they would continue coordinating with ADOT, the Marshal’s Office and neighborhood stakeholders as project work proceeds. Council instructed staff to report back on any new traffic-control or signage recommendations before making McCracken Lane an official entrance.
