Clarke County Board approves sheriff MOU, Infomax contract and claim payments; holds closed session

The Clarke County Board of Supervisors met March 2, 2026, at the Clarke County Courthouse and unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding with the sheriff’s office, a contract for the Department of Health and Human Services and payment of claims covering Feb. 24 through March 2, 2026. The board also entered a closed session under Iowa Code 21.5(i) to evaluate the professional competency of an individual who requested a closed meeting.
Chairman Randy Dunbar called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and Supervisor Brian Sorensen moved to approve the agenda; Supervisor Dean Robins seconded and the motion passed on a voice vote.
Early in the meeting Supervisor Dean Robins moved, and Supervisor Brian Sorensen seconded, Resolution 26-031 to go into closed session pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(i) "to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session." The board recorded a roll-call vote of three ayes and entered closed session at 9:00 a.m.; the board returned to open session at 9:34 a.m. after a separate motion by Supervisor Robins, seconded by Chairman Dunbar.
Back in open session the board approved Resolution 26-032, moved by Supervisor Dean Robins and seconded by Supervisor Brian Sorensen, to adopt a Memorandum of Understanding between the Clarke County Board of Supervisors and the Sheriff’s Office. The motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved Resolution 26-033, moved by Supervisor Dean Robins and seconded by Supervisor Brian Sorensen, to accept an Infomax contract for the Department of Health and Human Services. That measure passed on a unanimous vote.
Under Resolution 26-034 the supervisors approved payment of claims submitted from Feb. 24, 2026 through March 2, 2026. The minutes record fund totals as follows: General Basic Fund $53,097.45; General Supplement Fund $144.10; Mental Health Subfund $9.08; Rural Services Basic Fund $138.32; Secondary Road Fund $7,887.45; Emergency Management Fund $414.63; Assessor $12,334.02. The motion to approve claims was moved by Supervisor Dean Robins, seconded by Supervisor Brian Sorensen, and carried unanimously.
A written comment from Ronnie Decker was entered into the record. With no further business, Supervisor Brian Sorensen moved to adjourn; Chairman Dunbar seconded and the meeting adjourned at 9:50 a.m. The minutes were signed by Chairman Randy Dunbar and attested by Auditor Jessica Graves.
