Commissioners reappoint tax assessors, approve appointments and table multiple agenda items
Summary

At its Oct. 1 regular meeting, the Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners approved multiple routine motions and postponed others for further review.
Reappointments: The board unanimously reappointed James (Jim) Wiehe to Post 5 on the Board of Tax Assessors and Ken Vanhorn to Post 4; both reappointments were described in resolutions and will run through Dec. 1, 2028 as stated in the documents presented to the board.
Appointments and administrative actions: The board approved a refund for Beverly Riley and appointed County Manager Thomas Weaver to represent the county on the Two Rivers Regional Commission for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2025. The board also rescheduled the November regular meeting to Nov. 12 at 9:00 a.m.
Tablings and procurement decisions: Several items were tabled for additional review, including a request by the Board of Education to use Old City Hall (tabled to November) and a proposed cardboard compactor (tabled to the next work session). The board approved purchasing one vehicle for board use now and tabled two vehicles for the sheriff and EMA until December pending SPLOST outcomes.
Votes were recorded as unanimous for the items that passed during the meeting; no contested roll-call votes were recorded in the minutes.
The county attorney advised that one election-ordinance item could not be enacted today because it had not been advertised the required three weeks.
