In a Sept. 22 work session, county staff said only one contractor attended the pre‑bid and only one bid was returned: Wahoo Docks of LaGrange submitted a bid of $90,582.11 to construct an 80‑foot by 10‑foot fixed dock. County Manager Thomas Weaver told commissioners he would ask the commission to award the contract pending receipt of Corps of Engineers permitting.
The packet notes that only a limited number of dock contractors are eligible to work under the Corps’ permitting requirements. The manager said permitting must be verified before the county executes any contract.
The commission’s Sept. 2 motion authorized putting the project out to bid; the Sept. 22 work session provided the procurement update and a recommended contingent award pending permits.
