During a Jan. 27 work session the Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County discussed items to appear on the Feb. 4 regular-meeting agenda and heard a public comment offering community services.
Resident Robert Sumner spoke about running charity events and training opportunities at no cost to the county and requested coordination support. Department heads provided routine updates: Parks and recreation is transitioning from basketball to baseball seasons and seeking umpires; public-works reported road repairs, fiber locates and two internal promotions; utilities reported work on well #4 and hydrant maintenance; animal control noted a rise in stray dogs.
County Manager Thomas Weaver proposed placing cemetery bylaws, a conditional-use permit (CUP) process review with Planning & Zoning, reappointments to Planning & Zoning, creation of a 2025 SPLOST bank account, and using 2024 LMIG funds to repair Friendship Road on the Feb. 4 agenda. Commissioners agreed to invite the Planning & Zoning board to the next work session and to reschedule it for evening hours to host public hearings.
The board entered an executive session for legal, personnel and real-estate topics and reconvened without votes taken. The work session adjourned at 10:58 a.m.
