Board approves 'Sodtown Acres' administrative subdivision; reappoints Kurt Schmidt to Planning and Zoning

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 22 approved an administrative subdivision to be called "Sodtown Acres" and reappointed a member to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Chairperson Ivan H. Klein opened the public hearing for an administrative subdivision filed by licensed land surveyor Trenton Snow on behalf of Sodtown Land and Cattle, Inc. Trenton Snow reviewed the application and answered questions about location and title matters; no other speakers addressed the board. The hearing was closed and the board moved, seconded and approved the subdivision with Resolution 2023-43. The resolution finds the proposed plat complies with the county’s Subdivision Resolution and zoning-district lot-size requirements and authorizes the plat to be filed and recorded in the Register of Deeds office.
Separately, the board moved to reappoint Kurt Schmidt to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a three-year term effective immediately. The motion to reappoint was moved by Timothy Higgins and seconded by Bill Maendele and carried by roll call vote.
The minutes record parcel identifiers, the approximate acreage of remnant property (roughly 465 acres), and that the existing Sodtown Road and 310th Road are county-maintained public roads meeting county width standards. Title-search paperwork was provided to the County Attorney’s office and cleared as to Buffalo County interests per the minutes.
