Buffalo County approves $163,250 change order for 610 Central project, awards Midtown sprinkler contract

Buffalo County commissioners on Aug. 22 approved a significant contract change order and awarded a contractor bid for two county facility projects.
Facilities Director Steve Gaasch presented Change Order Request #34 for the 610 Central Project and said all change orders were processed from the project contingency under the Guaranteed Maximum Price. The board moved, voted and approved the change order in the reduced amount of $163,250.51; the motion was made by Bill Maendele and seconded by Sherry Morrow and carried on a unanimous roll-call vote.
Gaasch also presented contractor bids for the Midtown remodel’s fire-sprinkler work. The board accepted Rapid Fire’s bid; the motion was made by Sherry Morrow and seconded by Myron Kouba and carried unanimously.
Meeting minutes state the change orders are on file with the County Clerk and were funded from the contingency portion of the project’s Guaranteed Maximum Price. No additional public discussion was recorded in the minutes. The County’s Facilities Department and the County Clerk will retain the contract and change-order documentation for public record.
