Buffalo County board authorizes drug-court interlocal agreement, approves contracts and road project actions

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners on June 13 moved forward on a range of administrative and intergovernmental actions, authorizing agreements and approving contract-related items across county operations.
The board authorized Chairperson Ivan H. Klein to sign the Third Interlocal Agreement for the Central Nebraska Drug Court, an arrangement among Adams, Buffalo, Hall, Phelps and Kearney counties. County Attorney Shawn Eatherton answered questions about the agreement before the motion (moved by Sherry Morrow, seconded by Daniel Lynch) passed unanimously.
The board accepted a contract amendment with USDA Wildlife Services after Wayne Homan (contracted by USDA/APHIS) presented supporting handouts; the motion (moved by Sherry Morrow, seconded by Bill Maendele) carried on a unanimous vote.
Other approved items included the appointment of Matthew Starkey as Buffalo County Veteran Service Officer (motion by Myron Kouba, seconded by Bill Maendele), approval of a Special Designated Liquor License for Village 1919 events (moved by Bill Maendele, seconded by Daniel Lynch), and authorization to enter negotiations for a road-improvement contract requested by Ag Dryer Services, Inc. (moved by Ronald Loeffelholz, seconded by Daniel Lynch).
In public works business, Highway Superintendent John Maul set a bid date of July 11, 2023 for Project No. C10 (Kilgore Road). The board approved change order requests for the 2023 paving improvement project reflecting a net decrease of $17,458.69 and authorized the Certificate of Substantial Completion for that paving project; both motions were approved unanimously.
The board also postponed consideration of the CGI Digital video contract until the June 27 meeting.
