At its March 14 meeting the Buffalo County Board of Commissioners authorized the chair to execute an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) agreement with the Kearney Visitors Bureau (KVB) to provide financial assistance for a project described in the minutes as "Kearney Forward." The project involves the Kearney Visitors Bureau, the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce and the Kearney Development Council to pursue planning and anticipated construction of a new facility to support local economic development and tourism. The minutes do not specify the dollar amount of the contract.
The board also approved three change orders for the 610 Central Project submitted by Beckenhauer Construction. Facilities Director Steve Gaasch presented Change Order #30 ($6,177.20), #31 ($1,322.86), and #32 (reduced to $289.00). All change orders were charged to the project contingency fund under the project's guaranteed maximum price and approved unanimously.
Separately, while convened as the Board of Equalization, members approved a personal property exemption for Vietnam Vets–Nebraska Inc. (Parcel 680065000), approved Tax List Corrections numbered 4954–4960 (with Commissioner Loeffelholz recorded as abstaining on that vote), and renewed motor vehicle tax exemptions for Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska and Catholic High School of Kearney as recorded in the minutes.
The Board’s actions on ARPA contracting, change orders and equalization items carried on roll-call votes as recorded in the meeting minutes.
