Planning panel allows Morgan Lumber to amend conditional use application, schedules recommendation review

The Charlotte County Planning Commission voted on July 27 to allow Morgan Lumber Company to amend its pending conditional use permit application to include Parcel 89-1-9A and a proposed dust bin and blower system.
Kay Pierantoni, the Board of Supervisors' non-voting representative, said she would abstain from participating in discussion on Morgan Lumber because of a close relationship with the applicant. Staff reported the dust bin and blower system had not been included in the original application but was anticipated to move forward soon and that an updated staff report had been provided. After discussion, Commissioner Kerwin Kunath moved to allow the amendment; David Watkins seconded the motion, which carried with all members present voting yes.
Staff also said the applicant requested the Board of Supervisors delay a vote until more supervisors could attend the August meeting. The commission accordingly voted to consider a recommendation on the Morgan Lumber conditional use permit at its regular August meeting to allow the Board to act when more members could be present.
No additional hearings or final Board action occurred at the July 27 meeting; the commission's votes were procedural approvals to allow application updates and to adjust the recommendation timeline.
