County schedules Jan. 31 community meeting to gather input for comprehensive plan update

The Charlotte County Planning Commission on Dec. 20 reviewed outreach plans for its comprehensive plan update and set a community meeting for Jan. 31, 2022 (with a Feb. 3 makeup date). Todd Fortune of the Commonwealth Regional Council reviewed a draft slide presentation and a set of group exercises intended to gather citizen input on issues, goals and the county’s vision.
Commissioners indicated a central location was preferred and asked staff to check the availability of nearby schools, the new courthouse and the Farm Bureau Office in Charlotte Court House and finalize the site. Commissioners recommended widespread advertising of the meeting, including newspaper articles and ads, flyers, the county website and social media, WFLO radio, schools and town websites and councils, libraries, civic organizations, churches, and fire department contacts. The CRC was asked to provide a draft flyer to the commission for review as soon as possible.
Mr. Fortune also noted that the county would conduct a public survey later to collect additional citizen input to supplement the community meeting exercises. The work session concluded and the commission proceeded to the regular meeting.
