Chelsea council approves routine resolutions on surplus property, appointments and contracts

The Chelsea City Council on Feb. 17 approved several routine resolutions covering surplus property, a planning commission appointment, contracts for landscaping and paving, authorization to reimburse the city for school-project expenditures and payment of city bills.
Resolution 13-51 authorized declaring a 48-inch John Deere zero-turn lawn mower in Parks & Recreation surplus and disposing of it; the mayor said the mower is no longer worth maintaining. Resolution 13-52 appointed Owen Watkins to the Planning Commission to fill the seat vacated by Amanda Hardy after her move out of the city.
The council accepted a yearly landscaping-services quote from Total Exterior under Resolution 13-53 to maintain city properties including city hall, the library and several intersections; the mayor gave the contract total as $24,744. Resolution 13-54 approved paving the final road in Willow Branch Trail for $33,836.77, which the mayor said will finish the neighborhood paving project.
Under Resolution 13-55 the council authorized the city to reimburse itself for funds advanced on the Chelsea High School gym and tennis complex project while bond proceeds are still pending. Council also moved to pay city bills and recessed to the mayor's report.
All items were approved by voice vote with no opposition recorded on the meeting transcript. The measures are procedural but include modest budgetary commitments and an appointment to the planning commission that fills a vacancy.
