Gladwin County updates credit card policy, authorizes Deputy Administrator to sign NN MI Neighborhood Grant

The Gladwin County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 10 approved an update to the county credit card policy and authorized Deputy Administrator Melanie Thume to sign the NN MI Neighborhood Grant 2.0.

Thume presented the credit card policy revision and the board approved it on a motion by Commissioner Tami O'Donnell, supported by Commissioner Tom Winarski. Chairperson Karen Moore was authorized to sign documents related to the policy update.

Thume then presented the NN MI Neighborhood Grant 2.0 and asked the board to authorize signature. Commissioner O'Donnell moved to approve the grant signature authority; Commissioner Mike Visnaw supported the motion. The board approved the motion and designated the Deputy Administrator as the signatory for the grant.

Thume told commissioners the grant application and administration process is paperwork-intensive and proposed meeting with the Gladwin County Housing Commission to share tasks. She said Kim Hines, Gladwin City Manager, had offered assistance but cannot manage the full workload alone; Thume will arrange a meeting with the Housing Commission to pursue a hybrid approach in which the housing body assists with grant paperwork.

The actions formalize county administration’s ability to sign routine financial documents and to proceed with the Neighborhood Grant application. The board recorded the approvals as routine motions with no vote tallies recorded beyond “ayes carried.”
