Gladwin County approves DTE Energy agreements, airport hangar bid and CDBG‑DR parks grant; tables logo redesign

At its May 13 meeting the Gladwin County Board of Commissioners approved several administrative agreements and project actions, including three DTE Energy agreements, acceptance of the lowest bid for T‑hangar construction at the county airport and authorization for the Chair to sign a CDBG‑DR Parks and Recreation grant agreement.
DTE Energy: Jason Hannaath and Daniel Ettinger presented three agreements related to DTE’s project area, including a Suspension of PA 116 parcels, a Decommission Agreement and an Indemnity Agreement; the Board approved all three and authorized the Chair and County Clerk to sign.
County operations and purchases: The Board approved a $559 laptop purchase for the Registrar of Deeds (Ann Manning‑Clayton), authorized two sheriff deputies to attend close‑quarters handgun training at $125 each, and approved a payout of 42 hours of unused vacation for a county clerk employee ($1,011.36).
Airport and parks: Mike Hargrave requested authority to accept the lowest bid for the T‑hangar construction project and updated the Board on an Automated Weather Project that will provide continuous weather updates; the Board approved the low bid and authorized the Chair to sign. Deputy Administrator Melanie Thume presented a CDBG‑DR Parks and Recreation grant agreement and the Board authorized signature.
Other items: Commissioner Mike Visnaw presented Gladwin County logo concepts; the Board discussed alternatives and tabled the logo decision to allow for additional designs. Commissioner Tom Winarski raised title concerns about an ORV and tractor at the Gladwin County Recreational Area and the Board approved seeking a legal opinion.
