Fulton County adopts 2026 pay scale and creates health insurance opt-out payment

Fulton County Commissioners on Jan. 13 approved the county—s 2026 pay scale and a revision to the Human Resources Manual establishing a monetary payment for employees who opt out of county health insurance.
HR Administrator Mary Huston presented the proposed 2026 pay scale; Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to approve and execute the scale, and the motion passed unanimously. Separately, the board approved a revision to HR Manual Section 212 titled "Employee Benefits" to establish an opt-out payment for employees who waive county health insurance coverage.
Under the new language, effective Jan. 1, 2026, eligible employees who waive county health insurance coverage will receive a pro-rated payment up to $1,020 per calendar year ($85 per month). The waiting period will be excluded when calculating payment. The opt-out payment will be paid with the final payroll in December or upon the employee—s resignation; the employee must leave in good standing to receive the payment.
The board recorded no changes to eligibility rules, and the Salary Board set the compensation for specific hires separately in separate minutes that are on file.
