Etowah County approves consent agenda, authorizes executive session on business and commerce

On Jan. 20 the Etowah County Commission approved a broad consent agenda that included new bids, contract renewals, personnel actions, a TEK84 scanner service agreement, and a budget amendment for two totaled sheriff vehicles; it also authorized an executive session on business and commerce by roll call vote.
Etowah County commissioners approved the Jan. 20 consent agenda covering routine items including minutes, the proposed agenda, December 2025 financial transactions, procurement actions, personnel appointments and promotions, surplus equipment declarations, a TEK84 Intercept whole body scanner service agreement, and a budget amendment for the Sheriff’s Office. The consent agenda was approved by motion of Commissioner Jamie Grant, seconded by Commissioner Craig Inzer, with all members present voting yes.
Key items approved on the consent agenda included authorization to let new bids for Residential Solid Collection and Disposal (current Bid No. FY 2023-07 expires March 31, 2026) and for Printing (current Bid No. FY 2023-13 expires March 10, 2026); renewal of Bid No. FY 2025-07 for jail mattresses with vendor Victory Supply, Inc.; several personnel actions (including placing Nafleata Ecxford in the Assistant Chief–Corrections slot effective Jan. 8, 2026; placement of Erin Woodcock as Deputy Sheriff Trainee effective Jan. 12, 2026; hiring Rachel Stinson as Animal Control Officer effective Jan. 26, 2026; and promoting Morganna Lee to Adoption Coordinator effective Jan. 26, 2026); and a surplus declaration for multiple RSVP computers and laptops.
The commission approved the TEK84 annual service agreement for the Intercept whole body scanner (S/N#20120018) and authorized the CAO to execute the agreement; the agreement is referenced in Attachment Book 15. The commission also approved a budget amendment for the Sheriff’s Office recognizing two vehicles deemed total losses (one 2024 Chevrolet Silverado and one 2024 Ford Explorer), increasing Motor Vehicles by $73,381 with a corresponding increase in Sale of Capital Assets revenue of $73,381.
In new business the commission authorized an executive session to discuss business and commerce after a roll call vote. The County Attorney, Jim Turnbach, certified the session’s compliance with meeting requirements. The roll call recorded Yes votes from Districts 3 (Jamie Grant), 4 (Tim Ramsey) and 6 (Craig Inzer); Districts 2 and 5 were absent and District 1 was vacant.
The meeting closed after staff reports and brief commissioner discussion; the commission adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
