Calhoun County Commission rejects vehicle bid, declares IT surplus and OKs multiple county agreements and appointments

At its Dec. 18 meeting the Calhoun County Commission rejected a bid for a vehicle for the Revenue Commission Office, declared IT equipment surplus to be recycled, and approved a series of county agreements and appointments.
County Administrator Jonathan Gaddy presented a resolution to reject bids for the Revenue Commission Office vehicle opened Dec. 16, saying the bids failed to meet bid requirements; Commissioner Patterson moved to adopt the resolution and Commissioner Shears seconded. The motion passed by voice vote.
Gaddy also presented a resolution declaring IT items surplus for recycling; the commission adopted that resolution on a unanimous voice vote.
The commission authorized the chairman to sign an agreement with God’s Covenant Ministry to continue use as a polling location for Precinct No. Beat 15, Box 9 and approved a three-year extension with the ACCA Liability fund.
Separately, the commission approved an agreement with DataWorks to provide annual software support for the Sheriff’s Office at a cost of $5,000.00, and authorized an agreement between Cremation Services of East Alabama and the County Coroner for transportation to state facilities. Commissioners also signed a subdivision acceptance letter for Shadow Grass Phase 2.
On appointments, the commission filled at-large terms on the Community Punishment & Corrections Authority: minutes record a motion to appoint Commissioner Danny Shears to a one-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026, and a motion to reappoint Amanda Young to another one-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026. The minutes record the motions and the recorded commissioners voting for each appointment.
