Calhoun County awards courtroom renovation and bridge contracts, approves vehicle purchase and vendor extensions

Calhoun County Commissioners on Nov. 13 approved several procurement resolutions, including construction and vendor awards across county departments.
County Administrator Jonathan Gaddy presented a resolution awarding the District Courtroom Renovation and Expansion contract to Kilgore Construction, Inc., which the commission adopted by unanimous voice vote after a motion from Commissioner Patterson and a second from Commissioner Shears.
For two Rebuild Alabama bridge projects (64th Street Bridge and Mitchellville Bridge), the commission approved awarding the bids to the sole bidder, The Bridge Builders of Alabama LLC, following the County Engineer’s recommendation. The commission also approved awarding the Sheriff’s office police pursuit vehicle bid to sole bidder Donohoo Chevrolet, as presented by Gaddy.
The commission voted to extend printing services with Moore Printing Co. for another year, effective Dec. 19, 2025 through Dec. 18, 2026; that resolution passed by roll call with Commissioner Wilson — yes; Commissioner Shears — abstain; Commissioner Henderson — yes; Chairman Howell — yes; Commissioner Patterson — yes. The minutes record the motion and the roll-call votes. The commission also extended pest-control services with Grissom Solutions dba Orkin Pest Control for the same one-year term; that extension passed by unanimous voice vote.
Officials additionally adopted a resolution declaring certain Sheriff’s Office radio equipment surplus and authorizing donation to Calhoun County 911.
