At its Oct. 23 meeting, the Calhoun County Commission approved a set of contracts and grant actions covering disaster-response services, information-technology services for the coroner’s office, courthouse HVAC work and a victim-service grant.
County Administrator Jonathan Gaddy presented and the Commission approved a resolution extending the Alabama Joint Bid for regional debris removal services to DRC Emergency Services, Inc. for Region 6, effective Dec. 1, 2025, through Nov. 30, 2026. The board also awarded regional debris-removal monitoring services for Region 6 to Thompson Consulting Services for the same period.
The Commission authorized the chairman to sign a one-year agreement with GoFormz, Inc., for digital form services used by the coroner’s office totaling $1,080.00 (Oct. 28, 2025–Oct. 27, 2026). Commissioners also authorized execution of a Courthouse HVAC agreement with Whorton Engineering once the contract is in final form.
Gaddy presented and the Commission adopted a Violence Against Women Act grant-resolution authorizing submission of a $72,000 grant application to continue funding the 7th Judicial Circuit Domestic Violence Crime Unit.
All motions on these items carried by unanimous voice votes. These procurements and the grant application were presented as routine items recommended by county staff and, where noted, recommended by the Alabama Association of County Commissions (ACCA).
