Hardeman County hears IDB updates and Mayor's plan for Wet Center, FEMA funds and ambulance grant

At the Jan. 20 Hardeman County meeting, the Industrial Development Board and County Mayor presented a series of economic-development and community-service updates.
IDB Chair John Keller told commissioners the board is working on utility mapping with the Tennessee Valley Authority, received a $20,000 "Three Star" grant for marketing, and has five active business projects, including a data-center prospect and wastewater-capacity upgrades. The Election Commission also reported mailing more than 2,400 letters to notify voters of a polling-location change from the Armory to the Commission building and recommended additional signage on Highway 64 to direct voters to the Commission office.
County Mayor Todd Pulse said preliminary FEMA disaster relief funds have been released and contracts are being finalized. He outlined a proposed county-wide cleanup effort involving local churches and residents and announced a groundbreaking for a "Wet Center" water-education facility at Lone Oaks scheduled for April 10, 2026. The county has applied for a Community Development Block Grant to purchase a new ambulance; procurement is expected to begin in late February. The mayor also highlighted Sarah Skinner, the county's Alzheimer's Advocate at the Health Department.
