Buffalo County ratifies payroll and vendor claims, authorizes banks and signs weed reports

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 24 ratified routine administrative items including payroll and vendor claims, approved bank depositories, accepted the County Treasurer's semi-annual report, and authorized filing of the Weed Department annual reports with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture.
The board voted to approve the Jan. 13 payroll claims and a lengthy list of vendor claims for January 2023 after motions from Commissioners Sherry Morrow and Ronald Loeffelholz, respectively. The minutes list the General Fund net payroll as $327,677.29 and include itemized benefit and payroll deductions across funds.
Commissioner Morrow also moved to approve Wells Fargo and First Interstate Bank as depositories and to authorize County Treasurer Brenda Rohrich to invest county funds at those institutions; that motion was seconded by Commissioner Daniel Lynch and passed on a unanimous roll call.
Weed Superintendent Bret Stubbs presented the Weed Department annual state reports; the board authorized Chairperson Klein to sign and file the reports with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture following a motion by Commissioner Ronald Loeffelholz and a second from Commissioner Timothy Higgins.
Separately, the board approved a transfer of $25,000 from the General Fund to the Weed District Fund (5400) per the budget.
The board recessed at 9:23 a.m. to convene as the Board of Equalization and later returned to regular session.
