Buffalo County recognizes Shelton state-champion volleyball team and honors two longtime chaplains

At the start of the Dec. 10 meeting, the Buffalo County Board of Commissioners formally recognized the Shelton Girls Volleyball Team for winning the Nebraska state championship. Chairperson Ivan H. Klein read the award into the record and presented it to the team.
The board also adopted Resolutions 2024-51 and 2024-52 commending Chaplain Bobby Payne for 30 years and Chaplain John Gosswein for 34 years of service providing spiritual care to law enforcement and jail personnel. Kearney Police Chief Bryan Waugh and Sheriff Neil Miller presented certificates and plaques in appreciation of the chaplains’ service.
Both resolutions passed by unanimous roll call votes; the minutes include the full text of the commendations.
