Buffalo County accepts low bids for 2025 asphalt overlay and bridge rehabilitation projects

KEARNEY, Neb. — Buffalo County commissioners on Nov. 26 accepted low bids to advance road resurfacing and bridge rehabilitation projects for 2025.
Highway Superintendent John Maul presented bids and the Board voted unanimously to accept Vontz Paving’s low bid of $869,899.36 for three 2025 asphalt overlay projects identified in the minutes as C10(1014), C10(1015) and C10(1016) (including segments of Gibbon Road and a portion of Keystone Road). The Board also accepted the low bid of $234,922.25 from General Excavating for two bridge abutment and pier rehabilitation projects (Project Nos. C10(1431) southeast of Kearney on Sweetwater Ave and C10(1451) on Sodtown Road south of Elm Island Road).
Chairperson Ivan H. Klein instructed County Clerk Heather Christensen to open and read submitted bids for two additional bridge projects (C10(1013) Structure No. 19-004 and C10(1452) Structure No. C001004505); Superintendent Maul will review those bids and return recommendations at the Board’s Dec. 10, 2024 meeting.
The accepted bids will move toward contract execution and scheduling by the Highway Department. The minutes record unanimous roll-call approval for the two awards.
