Buffalo County approves payroll, vendor claims, $1M pledged collateral and authorizes two sheriff’s patrol vehicles

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 23, 2024 approved routine fiscal business, authorized capital purchases for the Sheriff’s Office and approved a contract for county property.
Business actions included ratification of Dec. 13 payroll claims and approval of December 2024 vendor claims on unanimous roll‑call votes. The Board also approved providing an additional $1,000,000 in pledged collateral to Bruning Bank for the County Treasurer (motion by Sherry Morrow, seconded by Bill Maendele).
Chief Deputy Sheriff Dan Schleusener presented a request to purchase two Dodge Durango patrol vehicles; the Board authorized purchase via state contract (moved by Maendele, seconded by Daniel Lynch). The minutes record unanimous approval.
Deputy County Attorney Andrew Hoffmeister presented a contract regarding county property along Keystone Road north of I‑80; the Board approved the contract after discussion. The County also accepted the November Community Action R.Y.D.E. report.
The meeting included standard employee recognitions and adoption of a resolution commending Peggy K. Nelson for 11 years of service in the Treasurer’s Office.
