Buffalo County sets Nov. 26 bid date for bridge project and authorizes NDOT project correspondence

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 22 set a Nov. 26, 2024 bid date at 10:00 a.m. for Bridge Project C10 (1452) south of the Platte River and Road Project C10 (1013) near Riverdale, and authorized Vice Chairperson Sherry L. Morrow to sign correspondence regarding an NDOT project summary.

Highway Superintendent John Maul was present when the board moved (Ronald Loeffelholz, seconded by Timothy Higgins) to schedule the bid date for the two projects. Separately, Zoning Administrator Dennise Daniels presented information about the Nebraska Department of Transportation project titled "Miller – Buffalo/Custer County Line" (NDOT Project STP-183-2(112)); the board authorized Vice Chairperson Morrow to sign a letter regarding the proposed project summary on behalf of the County Board (motion moved by Timothy Higgins and seconded by Ronald Loeffelholz).

The board also approved Resolution 2024-50, authorizing the County Board Chairperson to sign the Year-End Certification of County Highway Superintendent form required by the Nebraska Department of Transportation, a procedural step tied to eligibility for state incentive payments and NDOT reporting requirements. Votes on both actions were recorded as unanimous among members present; Commissioner Ivan Klein was absent.

The scheduling of the bid date advances county procurement for bridge and road work; the NDOT correspondence memorializes the county's review of the larger state-managed project and ensures the county's official position is filed.
