Buffalo County authorizes chair to sign letter on NDOT Elm Creek–Miller highway project

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners voted Oct. 8, 2024 to authorize Chairperson Ivan H. Klein to sign a letter related to the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s proposed highway project “Elm Creek–Miller” (NDOT Project 42989, STP-183-2(111)).
Zoning Administrator Dennise Daniels presented the project summary and identified the project’s location along U.S. Highway 183 in Elm Creek, Logan and Armada Townships. Commissioner Timothy Higgins moved to authorize the chair to sign the letter and Commissioner Bill Maendele seconded the motion; the motion passed with Aye votes from Maendele, Higgins, Kouba, Lynch, Morrow and Klein. No public opposition was recorded in the minutes.
The minutes identify the NDOT project by project number and township locations; no additional board conditions or vote tallies by district were recorded. The authorization is limited to signing a project summary letter and does not, in the minutes, bind the county to construction decisions or contract approvals.
The board’s clerk will include the signed letter with the meeting records as the county’s formal response or acknowledgment to NDOT’s project summary.
