The Charlotte County Planning Commission re‑elected its 2022 officers and approved amended procedural rules at a Jan. 24 meeting at the Charlotte County Administration Office. The slate—Andrew Carwile as chair, Cornell Goldman as first vice‑chair, Eugene Wells as second vice‑chair and Monica Elder as secretary—was re‑elected by unanimous vote after a motion from Commissioner David Watkins and a second from Kenny Howard.
The commission also voted to adopt Robert’s Rules of Order for Small Groups, amended to require a second for all motions and to allow the chair, at the chair’s discretion, to solicit limited input from non‑members during agenda items. Kerwin Kunath seconded the motion to adopt the rules; all members present voted yes.
Commissioners set the regular meeting date for the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Charlotte County Administration Office, with meetings beginning at 7:30 p.m. during daylight saving time (March–October) and 7:00 p.m. for the remainder of the year. The commission approved the Nov. 22, 2022 meeting and work session minutes as presented.
The procedural changes formally require seconds for motions and give the chair latitude to manage limited public input during agenda items; commission members said the modifications are meant to clarify meeting operations and ensure orderly consideration of agenda items. The meeting adjourned after staff provided routine updates.
