Buffalo County board approves transfers, contracts and licenses; accepts courthouse bid

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners completed a series of routine approvals and procurement actions at its May 28, 2024 meeting in Kearney.
The board approved the May 14 meeting minutes and ratified May 17 payroll claims by unanimous roll call. It approved transfers of $25,000 from the General Fund to the Weed District Fund and $750,000 from the General Fund to the Road Fund. The board also approved both adding and releasing $1,000,000 in pledged collateral for the Buffalo County Treasurer at Nebraskaland Bank.
Several special designated liquor licenses were approved following review of the sheriff's report: NVY Enterprises LLC (NVY Cigar Bar & Lounge) for an event at Knobel Barn on June 8; Bull & Barrel for an event June 29 in Odessa; and B&B Research and Investments LLC (Village 1919/The Farm) for events June 15 and June 22. Each motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote.
The board accepted the low bid from Sunny Communications for the Radio Project Jail Portables contingent on meeting bid specifications. It also accepted the sole/low bid submitted by DTC Duncan-Theis Construction for the Courthouse Addition. Personnel action included authorization to re-hire Mark Sleicher for a full-time position in the Road/Highway Department. The board accepted the April 2024 Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska RYDE report.
Board of Equalization activity in the meeting included approval of motor vehicle tax exemption renewals presented by County Treasurer Brenda Rohrich for Crane River Theater (a 2014 Ram 2500ST) and Catholic High School of Kearney (multiple vehicles) by unanimous vote.
