During a reconvened Board of Equalization session on May 14, commissioners approved several motor‑vehicle tax exemptions, authorized permissive exemption waivers to proceed to public hearing, and voted to hear 2024 property valuation protests.
County Treasurer Brenda Rohrich presented motor vehicle tax exemption applications. The board approved exemptions for CHI Good Samaritan (2012 Ford F450), First Baptist Church of Kearney (2020 Ford Transit), multiple vehicles owned by Mid Nebraska Individual Services (a list of years and makes was read into the record), and South Central Behavioral Services, Inc. (2024 Toyota RAV4). Motions were moved and seconded by commissioners and carried by roll call votes.
The BOE also approved Tax List Corrections numbered 5036 through 5039 submitted by County Assessor Roy Meusch, and approved permissive exemption waiver requests for the Family Advocacy Network and for United Campus Ministry (University of Nebraska), authorizing Assessor Meusch to consider those permissive exemptions with public hearings. The BOE voted to hear 2024 property valuation protests and instructed the County Clerk to send notice of those hearings.
The BOE adjourned and the board of commissioners reconvened the regular meeting at 9:40 a.m.
