Buffalo County commissioners ratify payroll, accept multiple bids and approve liquor license

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners on April 9 approved routine financial items, multiple construction bids and a special designated liquor license during a meeting in Kearney.

Commissioner Timothy Higgins moved and Commissioner Bill Maendele seconded to ratify payroll processed April 5, 2024; the motion carried with five "Aye" votes. The minutes list the General Fund net payroll at $344,150.81 and Road Fund net payroll at $68,641.62. The board also approved an early claim submitted by the county clerk and accepted the Clerk of the District Court March 2024 report and the County Treasurer's March 2024 fund balance report.

The board accepted the February 2024 Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska RYDE report; Commissioner Myron Kouba recorded an abstention on that vote. Facilities Director Stephen Gaasch reported that an extension parking lot addition received no bids; no action was taken on that item. The board accepted low bids from Integrity Construction LLC (ceilings) and Young Electric (electrical) for the 321 Building remodel and accepted B&S Concrete's low bid for impound lot improvements. A bid date of April 23, 2024 was set for the Radio Project—Jail Portables project.

Following review of the sheriff's report, the board approved a Special Designated Liquor License filed by B&B Research and Investments LLC (Trade Name: Village 1919; event at "The Farm," 51460 100th Road, Shelton) for May 4, 2024. The motor vehicle tax exemption renewal for the Salvation Army (2023 Ford Transit 350 Wagon) was approved during the Board of Equalization session.
