Board of Equalization approves vehicle exemptions, EducationQuest permissive exemption and tax list corrections

During a recess March 12, the Buffalo County Board convened as the Board of Equalization and approved motor vehicle tax exemption renewals for American National Red Cross and Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska (the Community Action vote recorded one abstention), approved a permissive exemption for EducationQuest Foundation parcel 310003004, and approved Tax List Corrections numbered 5011–5035.

At 9:33 a.m. on March 12, 2024 the Buffalo County Board recessed its regular session and convened as the Board of Equalization. County Treasurer Brenda Rohrich presented motor vehicle tax exemption renewal applications and the board approved the renewal for the American National Red Cross for a 1999 cargo trailer.

The board next approved motor vehicle tax exemption renewals for Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska covering a 2019 Kia Optima, a 2019 Ford Fusion and a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox; the minutes record Commissioner Myron Kouba as abstaining from that vote while the remaining commissioners voted aye.

Chairperson Klein then opened a permissive exemption hearing that had been extended from the Feb. 27 meeting and the board approved the EducationQuest Foundation permissive exemption application for parcel 310003004, determining the parcel met statutory requirements for exemption status. The board also approved Tax List Corrections numbered 5011 through 5035 as submitted by County Assessor Roy Meusch.

The Board of Equalization adjourned and the regular meeting resumed at 9:38 a.m.
