Buffalo County commissioners ratify payroll, adjust pledged collateral and award road-material bids

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners on March 12, 2024 approved several routine administrative and financial items and accepted road-material bids for multiple zones.
The board unanimously approved the Feb. 27, 2024 meeting minutes and ratified payroll claims processed March 8, 2024. The minutes published payroll line items showing General Fund net payroll of $365,517.22 and separate road- and weed-fund payroll totals.
By roll call the board accepted the Clerk of the District Court February 2024 report and the Buffalo County Treasurer February 2024 Fund Balance Report. The board approved adding pledged collateral for the Buffalo County Treasurer at FirsTier Bank in the amount of $150,000 and adding pledged collateral of $8,974,695.33 at First National Bank Omaha; it also approved release of $150,000 pledged collateral at FirsTier Bank. Those motions carried on unanimous roll call votes.
Highway Superintendent John Maul presented procurement results; the board accepted low bids for aggregate for Zones 1–8 (Paulsen Inc.), Zone 9 (Ed Broadfoot & Sons Sand & Gravel Inc.), Zones 10–14 and 16–26 (Mid Nebraska Aggregate Inc.) and Zone 15 (Southwest Gravel Products). The board opened bids for Project No. C10 (Sweetwater Avenue South 11th Street) and recorded that no bids were submitted at that time.
The board also accepted the January 2024 Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska RYDE Report and the UNL Extension 2023 Annual Report. In personnel business the board accepted the resignation of Michaela Lewis from the Kearney Park and Rec Advisory Board.
Chairperson Ivan H. Klein recessed the regular meeting at 9:33 a.m. to convene the Board of Equalization. The board will reconvene for its next regular meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
