Buffalo County approves small administrative subdivision, denies Amity Hills final plat

At a public hearing the Buffalo County Board of Commissioners approved the ‘J John Administrative Subdivision,’ an administrative subdivision filed by Mitch Humphrey on behalf of Trustee Jil Hallie John, finding the plat meets county subdivision resolution requirements, has cleared title as to county interests and abuts a county-maintained road.
Kearney resident Andy Spracklen spoke in favor of the J John subdivision before the board voted to approve Resolution 2024-10 for recording with the Register of Deeds.
Separately, Zoning Administrator Dennise Daniels presented a Summary Report of Denial for the proposed Amity Hills final plat. Craig Bennett of Miller and Associates, consulting engineers, spoke on behalf of the applicants (Benjamin and Christie Hirschfeld; Harry W. Whitley III and Correne E. Whitley). After discussion the board moved to deny the Amity Hills final plat, noting the applicants would need to submit a written request to the Buffalo County Board of Adjustment if they wish to pursue a noncompliant plat.
