Buffalo County board approves vendor claims, appointments, personnel changes and facility bid

At its Jan. 23 meeting the Buffalo County Board approved January vendor claims, appointed Jillian Kottich to the Extension Advisory Board, updated the Employee Handbook sick leave policy, accepted the low bid for an LEC facilities assessment, authorized an MOU with the Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs, and accepted annual reports from Planning & Zoning and the Weed Department.
The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners handled a series of routine administrative items at its Jan. 23 meeting, approving vendor claims, appointments, policy updates and procurement actions.
On motions recorded in the minutes the board approved January 2024 vendor claims as submitted by the County Clerk. The minutes include a detailed list of vendors and line-item expenditures across county funds.
Commissioner Ronald Loeffelholz moved and Commissioner Daniel Lynch seconded to appoint Jillian Kottich to the Extension Advisory Board for a three-year term; the motion passed by roll call. The board also approved an update to the Employee Handbook sick leave policy, effective immediately, after discussion.
Facilities Director Stephen Gaasch presented bids for a Law Enforcement Center (LEC) Facilities Condition and Needs Assessment; the board accepted the low bid from Wilkins Architecture Design Planning+ Parkhill on a motion by Commissioner Lynch, seconded by Commissioner Morrow.
Veterans Service Officer Matthew Starkey presented a Memorandum of Understanding between the Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs and Buffalo County, and the board authorized Chairperson Ivan H. Klein to sign the MOU. Chairperson Klein reviewed correspondence including a pamphlet from Everline Compliance LLC about pipeline awareness.
Zoning Administrator Dennise Daniels presented the 2023 Planning and Zoning Annual Report, which the board accepted. Weed Superintendent Bret Stubbs presented the Weed Department Annual State Reports and the board authorized Chairperson Klein to sign those reports to be filed with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture.
The board also set a bid date of Feb. 27, 2024 for Buffalo County 2024-2025 gravel bids to be effective April 1, 2024 through March 31, 2025.
