Buffalo County holds hearing on petition to vacate portion of 39th Road; decision deferred to Feb. 13

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners opened a public hearing on Jan. 23 on a petition to vacate a portion of 39th Road between Odessa Road and Eagle Road.
Chairperson Ivan H. Klein opened the hearing at 9:35 A.M. Petitioner Brent Carmody presented an exhibit to the board and spoke in favor of the road vacation; Highway Superintendent John Maul also spoke in support. No other members of the public addressed the board. Chairperson Klein closed the hearing at 9:44 A.M.
The minutes record that under state statute the board cannot make a decision on the road vacation until the next county board meeting, scheduled for Feb. 13, 2024. The hearing record and any exhibits presented by Mr. Carmody will be kept on file with the County Clerk's office for further action at the Feb. 13 meeting.
