Planning Commission forwards two home-occupation license recommendations to mayor

At a Jan. 28 Planning Commission meeting in City Council chambers, commissioners unanimously moved to forward positive recommendations to the mayor for two home-occupation licenses.

The first application was for Eternal Views Window Cleaning, proposed by Josh Speir of 147 E. 200 South. Staff presented Speir’s application and materials but the applicant was not present. The packet said the business would provide residential and commercial window cleaning across central Utah and that materials and tools would be stored at the residence with little to no impact on neighbors. Commissioner Jill White moved to forward a positive recommendation to the mayor with the conditions listed in the staff memorandum; Commissioner Vern Miller seconded and the vote was unanimous.

The second request came from John Forbes of 155 E. 200 South for his business, Just Plane Maintenance. Forbes told the commission he is a licensed A&P mechanic who has operated a mobile aircraft maintenance business since 1975, working primarily off-site on light aircraft; he said no storefront or on-site commercial activity would occur at the residence and that he recently learned the business was not licensed locally and sought approval to bring it into compliance. Commissioner Steven Saulter moved to forward a positive recommendation to the mayor with the staff conditions; Commissioner Jill White seconded and the vote was unanimous.

Both motions were forward recommendations to the mayor rather than final approvals; staff-recommended conditions will accompany the mayoral review. The commission took no further action on either item.
