Fulton County commissioners on Feb. 24 approved a proclamation declaring March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and received representatives from local developmental, intellectual disability and early intervention organizations.
Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to approve and execute the proclamation; the motion carried unanimously. Those present for the proclamation included representatives from Occupational Services Inc., CRI, Franklin/Fulton IDD (Program Specialist Rebecca Weaver), Full Circle Residence, Lupey Behavioral Services, Fulton County Human Services, The Arc of Franklin-Fulton Counties and local consumers and family members. A group photograph was taken following the signing.
The proclamation, as recorded in the meeting minutes, states the county recognizes that communities are strengthened when people with and without disabilities come together, and it commends the observance to county citizens. No policy directives or funding decisions were recorded as part of the proclamation action.
