The Hudson County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution on Aug. 14 honoring Marcy Bethea McClary for 37 years of service in the County Counsel's Office.
Alberico DePierro read the resolution, noting McClary began her career on Aug. 1, 1988, held roles from clerk typist and legal assistant to office manager and secretary to the director, and served under multiple county executives and counsels. Commissioners offered personal remarks praising her professionalism and steady presence. Commissioner Robert Baselice said, "Your smile, that smile is a wonderful thing." Commissioner Albert Cifelli described McClary as "the epitome of a professional person," and Commissioner Kenneth Kopacz thanked her family for "sharing you with us for so long." Commissioner William O'Dea and others told stories of her welcoming demeanor and reliability.
McClary thanked colleagues and family, telling the board she had "never missed a paycheck" in her career and that the County had been "my life"; she said she planned to "relax" and "take the next chapter" while staying close to family and friends.
The resolution and tributes were followed by a photo opportunity and applause. The Board's formal vote to adopt the resolution was recorded by the Clerk.
