Murray County approves road construction contracts and awards gravel-crushing bid

Murray County commissioners on April 15 approved multiple construction contracts and awarded a gravel-crushing bid as part of the county’s spring road program.
The board approved a construction contract with Towne & Country Excavating, LLC for project SAP 051-613-009 (CSAH 13 at Lake Shetek). Commissioners also approved contracts with Central Specialties, Inc. for projects SAP 051-040-001, SAP 051-642-021, SAP 051-647-006 and CP 67-25 (bituminous overlays). Motions to approve these contracts were made and seconded during the meeting and carried.
On a separate procurement item, bids were opened for gravel crushing project CP 02-25. The engineer’s estimate was $41,965.00; Rogge Excavating submitted a matching low bid of $41,965.00 and the board awarded the contract to Rogge. Other bidders included Central Specialties Inc., Sweetman Sand & Gravel, R & E Enterprises of Mankato, and Timm’s Trucking at higher amounts.
The board also authorized a pork-producers group at the county fairgrounds to extend their building roof approximately 12 feet to the south using Joe Schreier Construction’s lower estimate of $16,162.25; the pork producers agreed to cover all expenses for the project.
All contract approvals and the gravel award passed on motions recorded in the minutes.
