Board of Equalization approves motor-vehicle tax exemption; commissioners approve routine county items

The Buffalo County Board briefly convened as the Board of Equalization on Sept. 23 and approved a motor-vehicle tax exemption renewal for The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society.
County Treasurer Brenda Rohrich presented the renewal covering a 2013 Ford Supreme Chassis bus, a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, a 2021 Chrysler Voyager van and a 2008 Buck Dandy Co utility trailer. Commissioner Daniel Lynch moved to approve the exemption renewal and Commissioner Ivan Klein seconded the motion; a recorded roll call reflected six Aye votes with one member absent.
Separately during the regular session, Facilities Director Stephen Gaasch presented a kayak rental agreement for Ravenna Lake, which the Board approved (motion by Commissioner Bill Maendele, seconded by Commissioner Myron Kouba). The Board also approved flu shots for all county employees to be administered by Walgreens on Oct. 15, 2025 (moved by Commissioner Daniel Lynch, seconded by Commissioner Ivan Klein) and set Nov. 10, 2025 as the alternate date for the Nov. 11 regular meeting that falls on Veterans Day.
These routine approvals were recorded by roll call vote and will be implemented by county staff as described in the minutes.
