Charlotte County Planning Commission elects 2024 officers, adopts meeting rules

At its Jan. 18 meeting the Charlotte County Planning Commission elected officers for 2024, adopted a modified Robert’s Rules for small groups requiring seconds for motions and set a regular meeting schedule.
The Charlotte County Planning Commission on Jan. 18 elected its 2024 officers and adopted meeting procedures for the year.
Andrew Carwile was elected chair after a nomination by Commissioner David Watkins and a second by Commissioner Kerwin Kunath. James Benn was elected first vice-chair and Eugene Wells was elected second vice-chair after Wells was nominated following a declined nomination by David Watkins for the post. Staff member Monica Elder was recommended by Commissioner Watkins and approved by the commission to serve as secretary.
The commission adopted Robert’s Rules of Order for Small Groups with a standing modification requiring a second for all motions and allowing the chair discretion, or a majority vote, to solicit orderly input from persons other than commissioners on agenda items. Commissioners also set regular meetings for the third Thursday of each month, with start times of 7:30 p.m. during daylight saving time and 7:00 p.m. for other months. The commission approved the Dec. 21 meeting minutes as presented.
