Area Extension Director reports chancellor departure and 5% budget planning

Pat Wagner, Area Extension Director, told the Marquette County Extension Education Committee on Feb. 10 that Chancellor Mnookin will leave the University of Wisconsin at the end of the spring semester and that she had been a supporter of the Wisconsin Idea and Extension’s mission.
Wagner said the Division of Extension is managing a planning process around a proposed 5% budget cut. Wagner stated county co‑funded positions will not be affected by the cuts, and that Extension leadership continues to evaluate other adjustments.
Wagner also pointed committee members to an "Understanding AI" forum hosted by Extension (https://extension.wisc.edu/aiforums/) and said staff would forward registration information to department heads.
