Family Adventure Day drew about 300 people; county calendar site nears public launch

Marquette County Health Department reported that Family Adventure Day on April 12 drew about 300 attendees and 33 booths; IT staff said a new community events calendar website is nearly ready for public release after prior SharePoint licensing and security hurdles.
Public Health Technician Melissa Hodges told the Board of Health that Family Adventure Day on April 12 was successful and well attended.
"We had about 300 people attending. We had 33 booths that were outside and inside...Because of this we can make this event completely free," Melissa Hodges said, noting the event had the highest number of donations and sponsors since it resumed after the COVID pandemic (six Gold, four Silver and seven Bronze sponsors). Hodges said the event provided food, prizes, music, face painting and a balloon artist and that organizers had received positive feedback.
Separately, Dan Buchholz, Marquette County Director of MIS, and IT Specialist Jacob Hansen updated the board on the county community calendar project. Buchholz said initial work in SharePoint was paused because of county security and licensing issues; Jacob Hansen set up a new calendar site and the department hopes to open it to the public "within the next few weeks to a month." Jayme Sopha said the new site will allow the health department to attach event flyers, a capability the prior calendar did not support.
The board heard these updates during the Old Business and Upcoming Events sections of the agenda; no formal actions were taken on the calendar or event programming at the May 6 meeting.
