Marquette County EMS reports 7% call rise and eyes new Med1 with $56,582 grant

EMS Director Rob Lulling reported to the Marquette County Judicial & Public Safety Committee on Feb. 3 that county emergency medical services handled 1,924 calls in 2025, a roughly 7% increase from the prior year.
Lulling said an old ambulance was sold for $7,075 and that several part‑time staff had been moved into new full‑time positions. He also reported the county received a $56,582 grant for EMS; he said he would like to apply those funds toward purchasing a new Med1 ambulance and will present a full cost estimate to the committee next month. Lulling noted bedside ultrasounds were donated by EMT Inc., and that Neshkoro is now included in regular monthly reporting.
Committee member Judi Nigbor asked for an options list covering all capital needs so the committee could compare possible purchases and priorities. The update did not include a final procurement decision, a detailed equipment specification, or a full funding plan; Lulling said the department will return with numbers and recommendations.
The committee took no formal vote on equipment procurement at the meeting; the EM and EMS budget-treatment and specific use of grant funds will require further review and any formal action to appropriate funds.
