Council approves Copper Ranch rezoning to Community Living District, allowing income-restricted units

The Belgrade City Council unanimously approved on second reading a zoning map amendment for a portion of the property known as Copper Ranch, owned by Yellowstone Crossing H.C., LLC, changing that portion from Commercial Corridor to Community Living District.
Senior Planner Bridal Stein described the request as applicant driven and said the change would allow an apartment complex that could include income- and deed-restricted affordable dwelling units. “...the ideas for apartment complex, for affordable dwelling unit that would be, income and deed restricted,” Stein said.
The applicant was present to answer technical questions. After opening and closing the public hearing with no public comments, Deputy Mayor Matamoros made the motion to approve the zoning change on second reading; the motion was seconded by Council Member Simon. The motion passed unanimously.
Council and staff said they will proceed to review permitting and development plans and that staff recommended approval of the amendment on the basis of the applicant’s submittals and prior council review (first reading occurred on Jan. 26).
