Sheriff requests two additional jailers as county reviews 2025 corrections funding

Sheriff Scott Holliday presented the Sheriff's Office and jail budgets during the Aug. 13 Wells County budget session, requesting $2,320,990 for the Sheriff's Office, $1,871,060 for the Jail, and $563,171 from LIT Public Safety. Holliday requested a 5% wage increase and included two additional jailers in the jail budget request.
No formal vote was taken on the sheriff's requests at the Aug. 13 session; Council will consider the public safety funding alongside other departmental requests during follow-up budget meetings scheduled for Aug. 20, 21 and 22, 2024.
The Aug. 13 presentations included multiple public-safety and corrections-related funding lines across County Council and other funds that will be reconciled in later deliberations.
