Wells County Council approves 3% raise for all employees and a 3% council wage increase

The Wells County Council voted Aug. 20 to increase wages for all full- and part-time county employees by 3% for 2025 and separately approved a 3% raise for council members.
A motion by Council member Scott Elzey, seconded by Vice President Vicki Andrews, to increase County Council wages by 3% carried 6-1, with Steve Huggins recorded as voting no. Later, a motion by Elzey, seconded by Todd Mahnensmith, to increase all full- and part-time county employee wages by 3% for 2025 carried 6-1, with Brandon Harnish recorded as voting no.
Council discussed county pay policy before the votes and stated they would not increase Council wages beyond the 3% if broader raises differed. The raises were adopted during the council’s line-by-line budget review and will be incorporated into the 2025 budget.
