Fulton County approves $230,699 state grant to support 911 systems and maintenance

Fulton County commissioners voted unanimously Dec. 30, 2025, to accept a State Interconnectivity Grant totaling $230,699.51 to support maintenance and upgrades for county and regional 911 infrastructure.
EMA/911 Director Brian Barton reviewed the grant, which is earmarked for SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, a SouthCentral Mountain battery upgrade, and Fulton ILEC maintenance. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve and execute the grant agreement; the motion carried with all commissioners voting in favor.
Separately, the board approved hiring Troy Wagaman as a Per Diem 911 Dispatcher, effective pending required clearances; a brief Salary Board meeting at 9:48 a.m. set the dispatcher’s salary. Commissioners recorded the executive session called for personnel matters later in the meeting.
The grant covers multiple maintenance and interoperability items that the county’s EMA/911 office said are intended to sustain day-to-day operations and regional connectivity for 911 services.
