Cloud County schedules NIMS training, storm-spotter outreach; board to serve as road viewers on Trail Road petition

Cloud County Emergency Management announced training and outreach events and the Board cleared steps on a local road petition during its Feb. 23 meeting.
Makenna Hass, Emergency Management, said she had submitted the base portion of the county Emergency Plan for review and announced a NIMS 402 class for senior officials on March 13 in Salina. She told the board that Severe Weather Week will run March 2–5 and that a Storm Spotter class will be held March 5 at Cloud County Community College; Hass said there will be giveaways throughout the month and that she had talked with Kansas Gas regarding the county generator. "Severe Weather Week is March 2 – 5th," Hass stated during her report.
Earlier, the board approved a 10-minute executive session under the attorney-client exception to discuss Trail Road and included attorney Mike Montoya by conference call. After returning to open session the commissioners discussed the Trail Road petition with Ryan McMillian; the board agreed commissioners would act as road viewers during the petition process. McMillian asked about an extension for a FEMA violation, and the board said it would consult County Appraiser Kim Winsett for follow-up.
