Fulton County proclaims March 2026 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Fulton County commissioners on Feb. 24 unanimously approved a proclamation designating March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and met with local service providers, family members and people who receive services to sign the proclamation.
The proclamation, approved by motion of Commissioner Hervey P. Hann, commends “that Fulton County becomes a better place when people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities,” and encourages residents to observe the month. Attendees included representatives from Occupational Services Inc., CRI, Full Circle Residence, The Arc of Franklin/Fulton Counties, Fulton County Human Services and family members who also posed for a group photograph with commissioners following the signing.
Human Services Director Julie Dovey and local advocates described the observance as an opportunity to raise public awareness and community inclusion, but no new county programs or funding were proposed or approved at the meeting. The proclamation will stand as the county’s official recognition of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month for March 2026.
